City Music is coming to the LCC sanctuary. The orchestra consists of musicians from Cleveland and surrounding areas and features world class soloists and conductors from all over the world. the concerts are fee and open to the public and have the mission to present great classical music to peopl who might not otherwise have the opportunity to be a part of such concerts. This is the 10th year since the inception of the organization, and it has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The first concert was presented at 7:30 pm on Friday, October 25th featuring music of Mozart, Vivaldi, Schubert and Dorman. The renowned violins Rachel Barton Pine was the soloist in the Mozart composition. Other concert dates are December 5th, March 14th and May 15th. We welcome this fine orchestra to our church and know that this great music will be a wonderful gift to the church and community in general.
The Chancel Choir resumes singing in worship services on Sunday, September 8th with a 9 am rehearsal before the service and will have a "kick-off" party on Thursday, September 5th at the Clifton Club Beach House at 6:30 pm. We are off to another season of music at LCC. We look forward to new anthems, solos, duets, music for keyboard and instruments, a major work for the choir, combined anthems with the children's choirs and other special events. We welcome new members. Please see Max Bunker if you would like to become a member of the choir.
The Handbell Choir rehearsals are Thursday's at 6:45 pm in the sanctuary. We welcome new members who read music and who are interested in being a part of this excellent ensemble. There will be small ensembles and the entire choir performing on a monthly basis as a part of worship.
The Festival Arts Series provided funding for several programs this past season including the Cleveland Flute Society, the chamber music program with the Mary Beth Ions string group and musicians to enhance music anthems and programs during the year. This year we have a very special group presenting, the much acclaimed "CITY MUSIC" orchestra and ensembles will present concerts in our sanctuary in late October, December, March and May. This ensemble of fine players will feature learning guest musicians, excellent conductors and is a community outreach group that does not charge admission for the concerts.
We will also have jazz Sunday and other visiting musicians from Cleveland and other areas as our guests in worship. This should be an exciting year. Your support allows us to continue this excellent arts presentation, so long a part of the music at LCC.
Support for the Festival Arts Series is welcome. Donors (up to $49), Patrons ($50 to$99), Benefactors ($100 to $199), Angels ($200+)
