It is our goal to provide the congregation of LCC with a variety of Bible studies, as well as spiritual growth opportunities both inside, and outside of the walls of our church.  It is our desire to nurture the spirit, stimulate the mind, and grow a passion for Christ and for service to others.

Plant Based Living

Presented by: Jennifer Warden, Founder of VegiCouture Lifestyle

Thursday, May 2, 2013

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm in LCC Social Hall

Are you getting ready to plant this year's garden?  Have you ever wondered how eating a plant based diet could impact your health and overall lifestyle?

After struggling with health concerns such as lymphoma, diabetes, and high cholesterol, Jennifer Warden found new life and energy consuming a plant-based diet.  She will share her knowledge with us on how eating plants can assist in diverting/controlling heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and your overall health and well-being.

Jennifer holds a B.A. in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Social Administration and worked briefly as a psychotherapist before opting to stay home and be with her daughter, Olivia.  She also had the good fortune to study Culinary Arts with Anne Willan at LaVarenne, but has now swapped duck liver pate for olive tapenade.

The changes in her life were so profound that, as she put it, "it would be irresponsible of me NOT to share this information".  She is the founder of VegiCouture Lifestyle and now spends her days in the kitchen thinking up new and unique recipes consisting only of natural, plant based ingredients.

We hope you will join us for this evening of information, recipes, and wonderful food.  For more information, please visit her website at http://vegicouture.com/. Registration is required.  Please RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you will be attending and note if you will need childcare.

Second Saturday

All women in our church family are invited to join us on Saturday, April 13 at 9:00 am in the Parlor for Second Saturday.

We spend an hour in conversation, reflection and prayer.  This is a great chance to get to know women of all ages in our Church through a relaxed conversation.  Give us a try!

LCC PRAYER CHAIN

If one Prayer can make a difference, think how much good 10 Prayers can do! The LCC Prayer Chain is ready to begin Praying for our LCC family and others in need of support, healing, strength, and courage. You can offer a prayer anonymously or with a name, however you feel comfortable. Wellness of the body, the mind, or the soul might actually be the ability to ask for help.

Please contact one of our group or the Church Office (216-221-9555) and the Chain will begin:

Patti Komperda, Chiquita Matthews, Robert Wenz, Muriel Campbell, Barbara VanHala Meggas, Vicki Smigelski, Ellen Tudron, Nancy Gibbs, Kathy MacDougall, and Ama Paintsil

Beach House Memories (2012) by Mary Alice Monroe will be the April book for review and discussion.  The year is 1974 and the setting is the Isle of Palms off the Charleston, South Carolina coast.  Olivia "Lovie" Rutledge and her daughter Cara spend their summer at her family's old seaside cottage - her beloved Primrose Cottage.  Here, she indulges her lifelong vocation as the "Turtle Lady", tending the loggerhead sea turtles that lay their eggs in the warm night sand and then slip back into the sea.  This summer, however, is different.  What begins as a shared passion for the turtles with a visiting bliologist changes to a love that forces Olivia to face some agonizing decisions.

All are welcome to join!

We have a meeting room reserved just for u.  Be ready to start at 12:30 pm for food, friendship and discussion.  Remember to read the book! Sign up on the West Clifton Bulletin Board or call the church office—216-221-9555.
