Max Bunker,
Interim Director of Music
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir will present Robert Ray’s “Gospel Mass” on Sunday, June
1st as part of the worship service. This delightful music uses the
traditional form of the mass in an untraditional way and features piano,
drums and bass. We look forward to presenting this work to the congregation.
This is the last in the series of recitals and concerts in the Festival Arts
Series for this season. The choir continues to present various styles of
choral and instrumental music during the worship service, and I am grateful
for their continued excellence in performance of both contemporary and
traditional church music. They are an extremely talented group of
individuals and I greatly enjoy working with them.
Handbell Choir
The handbell choir plays preludes on Sunday, May 11th and June 8th. They
have done an excellent job this year and their musical gifts greatly enhance
the worship service on a regular basis.
Godspell
The musical production of “Godspell” last weekend was a great success!
Congratulations to the members of both choirs who performed so well in this
work. Congratulations to the directors, Karen Lee and Julie Warren, who gave
so much time and effort to produce this production. Thanks, also, to Jan
Young, Ken Hunt, Mark, and Bob Moncrief for all their hard work in providing
music for the show with essentially no prepared score. It was a challenge
for all of us but worked out well. The “pit” band, if we had a pit, was
great. Thanks, too, to Tom Leatherman, Earl Gottleib and to all the
dedicated parents who gave so much time and energy to make this production
work so well. It was a fine show!
